Introduction

Is very magical to be skiing at the the southern most City in the World, starting at sea level, with views of the Beagle Channel and the Mountain Range. There are excellent valleys and mountains for backcountry ski & ski touring, with easy access from the main road.
For fans and lovers of ski adventures, Ushuaia offers the possibility of great backcountry ski, near El Castor Ski Resort, Martial and other Mountains. Ushuaia is a very interesting City, in front of the Beagle Channel and surrounded by mountains around 4000 ft.
Based in the City, there are several possibilities for day trips with 30min drive, from easy slopes to steep ones, your guide UIAGM-IFMGA will offer you different options according to the weather-snow conditions, and your personal skills.
This trip could be combined with a week of ski at El Chaltén or Bariloche.

Itinerary

DAY 1

Reception at Ushuaia Airport and transfer to Hotel. Briefing with your guide; equipment check and details of the program. Lodging at Ushuaia.

DAY 2

Ski at “El Castor” Ski Resort. Warm up day and Ski off-piste around El Castor mountain. Lodging at Ushuaia

DAY 3

Ski at “El Martial”. Different options to choose according to snow conditions, very scenery valley above Ushuaia and the Beagle Channel. Lodging at Ushuaia.

DAY 4

Ski at “Olum Valley” & “Cinco Hermanos” peak. Cinco Hermanos is a very nice Mountain to Ski, with views of Mount Olivia and the City of Ushuaia. Lodging at Ushuaia. Lodging at Refugio Frey.

DAY 5

Ski “Cerro Alvear”, this is probably the highlight of skiing in Ushuaia, and the most technical peak to climb. Reaching the summit will involve the use of crampons and Ice Axe. Usually best ski descent by the East Face! Lodging at Ushuaia.

DAY 6

Ski at Paso Garibaldi, Olum Valley or Martial according to conditions. Lodging at Ushuaia.

DAY 7

Transfer to Airport. End of our services

NOTE

Water is potable in Southern Patagonia. Please bring your own water filter or purification tablets if you don’t want to drink the water untreated.
Sleeping bags/pads are available for rent in El Chaltén. Book early for best availability
