Itinerary

Day 1

We will depart early in the morning to Río Eléctrico (10 miles). Once there, we will start at the trail to Piedra del Fraile for the first 30 min, and then we´ll head up off the trail trough a dry canyon and steep slope , until we reach the base of the Glacier.

The terrain is steep, and usually requires the use of crampons at some point. Once at the Glacier, we will put on skis and continue the ascent with the skins up to the summit of Cerro Eléctrico ( 2257m), The views of Fitz Roy and Piedras Blancas Glacier from the shoulder and the summit are astonishing! After a lunch break and photos, we´ll descent skiing to the base of the glacier , and hiking back to Río Eléctrico and drive to El Chaltén.

The activity takes about 12 hours, with a vertical gain of 1700 meters and slopes between 30º-35º.

Note

Our Mountain Guides will have the final call to modify either partially or totally any program when safety conditions require.
